Finding Pearls

Oysters are ugly to the eye and don’t “do” anything but grow in one place. In addition to being boring they have no backbone! Yet they create beautiful pearls!

The process is analogous to an organization identifying the needed changes and transforming them into new structures. The irritants are the problems in your organization that need to be transformed into iridescent gems. Every organization has irritants whether they are outdated processes or systems or perhaps people who don’t “fit” into the organization. The CM process may include reshaping the behavior of the people to align to the new purpose of the organization. The organization has the choice to transform the irritant into “new things” or it may get rid of the irritant.

The final process is designing all the moving parts of the organization into the new vision. All the new or redesigned processes, structures and transformed people are aligned to the new vision. This is like stringing the new pearls of different colors, shapes, and sizes into the final structure. It can be a simple string of pearls or it could be a complex structure. It is based on the vision, mission, and purpose of the organization. The goal of your pearls and your pearl necklace is to have an impact the internal and external spheres of influence so that your destiny is achieved.
